Today our group reserved the name Symmetry Accessories on Etsy.com. Leah came up with the name, and we all loved it. We thought of all kinds of cheesy slogans my favorite being; "Balance out your wardrobe with Symmetry Accessories". Originally we just wanted the name to be Symmetry, but that was taken. There are already three other shops with the same name which could be a blessing or also confusing. The idea is people who go looking for the others my stumble upon our site. Or the downside is people who are looking for us, might just spend their money there. That is truely the main issue with Etsy. It's a site where you're literally surrounded by your competitors. Shoppers might just want to check out your site, then if they find someone else on there, you're out of luck. We haven't really discussed marketing and promotions beyond starting a facebook page for the store. Utilizing the facebook page could help us spread the word because we could create events, and add all our friends and try to get them to purchase our items.
We have decided on three basic designs for our accessories. My envelope clutches, Tao's broaches and hair pins, and Leah and Erica's body chains. All three are equally as time consuming to produce, and we are working separately to make our items.

Today our group discussed how many items we were going to try to sell, and what kind of logo we might have on our etsy site. All of us in the APD concentration are pretty decent in Adobe software, so I don't for see a problem in creating the logo, we just need to come up with a concept. I've been brain storming concepts my usual way which is looking at print and design blogs. I also get a lot of ideas from looking at http://ffffound.com/ which is mostly photos, and graphic design ideas. I discovered that site a couple years ago and have been hooked ever since. The latest concept I've thought of was a play on our name Symmetry by creating an asymmetrical logo.
